USDA grant funded no cost fiber connections to nearly 400 properties in North Spokane County

Nearly 400 eligible North Spokane County property owners have until August 30, 2026 to request a free fiber-to-the-home connection through Broadlinc’s USDA Rural Utilities Service funded broadband expansion project.

Residents who choose to activate service through one of Broadlinc’s partner Internet Service Providers can take advantage of reliable, high speed internet capacity that fiber broadband provides for remote work, online learning, telehealth, streaming, gaming, and device connectivity throughout the home. In addition, national research studies estimate access to fiber broadband increases residential property values by approximately 5%.

Permission to build the fiber connection does not require property owners to subscribe to internet service. By authorizing installation now, they will receive the permanent fiber connection during the grant funding window, preserving opportunity for future internet service at their property.

“This is one of those rare opportunities where grant funding allows eligible residents assistance to high-speed internet access where it is otherwise cost prohibitive,” says Ariane Schmidt, Executive Director of Broadlinc. “Please consider returning your authorization form before the deadline – once grant window passes, so does the funding window.”

This project is part of Broadlinc’s mission to expand public benefit, open access broadband infrastructure across Spokane County through Public Private Partnership with Internet Service Providers (ISPs). Our model gives residents more choice, encourages competition, innovation, and helps ensure the network sustainability in our rural communities for decades to come.

Eligible residents must complete and return a Property Access Waiver by August 30, 2026, to receive their free fiber connection. After construction is complete, future installation costs will become the responsibility of the property owner.
