North Spokane County Eligibility Map

Construction is underway on Broadlinc’s USDA Rural Utilities Community Connect-funded fiber broadband project in North Spokane County. This effort is bringing public benefit open access fiber infrastructure to approximately 400 homes west of Chattaroy and south of Deer Park. The project expands high-speed broadband access through new mainline fiber construction and fiber-to-the-home connections in partnership with our Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to strengthen long-term connectivity in rural Spokane County.

Construction crews are currently confirming utility locations prior to construction activity, primarily along county roads and utility poles. Broadlinc is working closely with Spokane County and local utilities for permitting and right-of-way coordination to support efficient construction while minimizing impacts to residents and surrounding properties.

“Broadlinc has demonstrated that it is a trusted public partner for broadband expansion, and residents can be confident this work is being carried out with careful coordination, strong local oversight, and long-term community benefit in mind” said Broadlinc Board Chair and Medical Lake Mayor Terri Cooper.

After primary fiber routes are complete, crews work to install fiber connections to eligible homes within the project area for residents who have returned an access waiver to authorize installation. Access waivers will be distributed and available in digital and print form in the coming weeks. Internet service availability is anticipated to begin in late summer 2026.

This USDA-funded project is limited to the approved service area, but additional fiber expansion projects are planned to extend broadband access to more rural homes, businesses, and community facilities across Spokane County.

“I’m pleased to see this project moving into construction and look forward to the lasting benefit it will bring to residents in this area,” shares Broadlinc Executive Director Ariane Schmidt.

Broadlinc will be holding a community information session for this project as a part of the Spokane County 2026 Comprehensive Plan Rural Lands Listening Session Tuesday March 24th from 5:30pm-7pm at the Deer Park City Hall located at 316 E Crawford Ave, Deer Park, WA 99006.
