Rural Counties from all over Eastern Washington struggle to provide needed broadband access for work, school, and even cell phone connectivity. The Spokesman connected with our Executive Director, Ariane Schmidt, who’s leading the charge for the county of Spokane. Although many county residents have reliable access, there are over 30,000 citizens in rural areas without broadband internet. The article highlights work done by Broadlinc partners New J and Peak Industries, the upcoming BEAD grant program (releasing $1.23 billion into the state’s broadband investment pool), and the formation of Broadlinc.
